"The Mankind Project of Kentucky is a committed, diverse and vital community empowering men to live in integrity, authenticity and service. We are creating a world of love, healing and growing consciousness."

History of The ManKind Project of Kentucky
The core group of men that evolved into what now is The ManKind Project of Kentucky (MKP Kentucky) met in a therapy group.

Several of these men had learned of “New Warriors” from friends in other cities and from seeing The ManKind Project featured on the nationally syndicated “Donahue Show” for two consecutive days.

In September of 1992, one man from the therapy group and a second man from Kentucky completed the New Warrior Training Adventure (NWTA) hosted by the Indianapolis Center. In November, 1992, six more men from the original therapy group participated in a NWTA weekend. One week later, the eighth man of the original group completed a NWTA hosted by the Chicago Center. In December, 1992, this core group of men formed the first Kentucky Integration Group (I-Group).

In mid 1993, four of the original group, Tim Schladand, Harold Cates, Craig Herink and Nick Gargala became the “founding brothers” of the Kentucky ManKind Project when they joined their efforts to complete the intensive certification process required to become a certified Training Center. The ManKind Project of Kentucky is now one of over 30 certified training centers in the world.

MKP of Kentucky held its first New Warrior Training Adventure Weekend in March of 1994. Since then more than 943 men have been initiated through the Kentucky Center. The Kentucky NWTA weekends are currently held in a beautiful rural and secluded area of Southern Indiana about 90 minutes from downtown Louisville, Kentucky.

There are currently 12 Integration Groups (I-Groups) active in The MKP Kentucky Community. I-Groups provide men the opportunity to remain connected to the MKP community and continue to work on important issues in their lives.
